University culture and the larger society equates busyness with productivity and doing more with success. Practically, we know that doing more usually means that fewer things are done well. Student support programs and professionals can fall prey to this mentality, when expecting more from students and staff, fostering burnout and exhaustion. Latisha Franklin is a 5th year PhD Candidate in the Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology (BMMB) program in the Eberly College of Science. Latisha graduated with honors in Biology and a Chemistry minor from Dillard University in 2016. Her research, conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Wendy Hanna-Rose, explores changes in metabolism as a result of muscle dysfunction related to metabolic diseases.
