    University of Texas at Austin

    Emily Landgren (she/her) is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering researching disabilities in higher engineering education at the University of Texas at Austin. She is a disabled woman, an engineer, and a disability advocate. Her proposed dissertation work looks at the relationship between classroom acoustics and disabled students’ auditory experiences. She recently earned her Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, completing research that focused on ableism and best practices as detailed by disabled undergraduate engineering students; prior to this, she earned a B.S. in Integrated Humanities and Engineering from Lehigh University.

  2. Chloe Siobhan Wright
    University of Texas at Austin

    Chloe Wright (she/her) is a PhD student in STEM Education at the University of Texas at Austin. She is a researcher in the Center for Engineering Education, advised by Dr. Maura Borrego. Her own experiences as a woman in engineering inspired her to conduct research on equity in engineering education. Her work thus far is with LGBTQ+ undergraduate and graduate students in STEM. Before coming to UT, Chloe earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University.

    Dr. Maura Borrego (she/they) is the E.P. Schoch Professor in Engineering, Director of the Center for Engineering Education and Professor of Mechanical Engineering and STEM Education at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Borrego is an ASEE Fellow and currently serves as Senior Associate Editor for Journal of Women and Minorities in Science and Engineering. All of Dr. Borrego’s degrees are in Materials Science and Engineering. Her M.S. and Ph.D. are from Stanford University, U.S.A, and her B.S. is from University of Wisconsin-Madison, U.S.A. Dr. Borrego advises both Emily and Chloe.

She also served at North Carolina State University as associate dean for research and graduate programs and associate dean for academic affairs in the college of engineering.     ANSYS, Inc.

    Kaitlin Tyler is currently a Senior Academic Program Engineer at Ansys. Her role focuses on supporting the usage of Ansys tools in academia, with an emphasis on materials teaching and pre-university engagement. She is also the lead for the Ansys Academic Content Development Program, which focuses on developing instructional content to support integration of Ansys tools in curriculum. Her background is in materials science, with a PhD in the subject from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
    She is very involved in ASEE. At the publication of this paper, she is the Awards Chair (past Division Chair) for the Materials Division and Chair Elect for the Corporate Members Council.

The reluctance of hiring managers to recruit Gen Z graduates stems from concerns over their preparedness for the workforce, particularly in areas such as teamwork, business etiquette, and real-world experience. The cost for dinner is CA$70 per person, and each person will pay individually at the restaurant. This is NOT A FREE EVENT. You need to register because the maximum head count is 40.
The specially curated menu for our event includes an appetizer choice of leek and portobella mushroom risotto; tomato, cucumber, and pepper gazpacho; or roasted eggplant and zucchini tian. The main dish is a choice of tarragon marinated pork tenderloin, Spanish fish zarzuela, vegan paella, beef and mushroom stew, or braised lamb shank. Dessert choices are caramelized apples sabayon or gluten-free vegan crème brulee.
