The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in engineering education is transforming traditional learning environments, offering innovative approaches to enhance student engagement, personalized learning, and improved educational outcomes. This systematic literature review examines the wide range of current applications of AI in engineering education including adaptive learning platforms, intelligent tutoring systems, and AI-driven assessment tools. Articles for this review were identified using Scopus and EBSCOhost search engines. Abstracts for relevant articles were selected by a team of three researchers. Full texts of applicable articles were evaluated by the research team based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results from this literature review will summarize how AI technologies are implemented in engineering education and look at how they benefit and improve the educational experience as well as the challenges and limitations they may bring. By synthesizing key findings from recent studies this review seeks to determine the current status of AI implementation, highlight improvements to its application in the learning process, and suggests areas for future research to maximize its positive impact on engineering education for future students.
