Outcome-Based-Competency-Focused Curriculum – Alliance Model 2025

This 8-page “Work in Progress” paper, with relevant examples in the annexures, is all about a novel industry-connected engineering education curriculum development model. Since the launch of the National Education Policy-2020 (NEP-2020) by the Government of India, the education systems are required to adopt the national mandate of “Competency-based Framework”. This is a paradigm shift from the “traditional syllabus” to the Outcome-based Education (OBE) curriculum philosophy. But, knowingly or unknowingly, most universities exhibit only a superficial compliance to this national mandate. Their tinkered traditional syllabi are only “old wine in new bottles” as they are often disguised as OBE curricula with hardly any industry-connect. It is in this backdrop; the authors re-engineered the UG engineering programme curricula as the "Outcome-based Competency Focused Curriculum (OBCFC) Alliance Model 2025”. The key takeaways from this conference are, understanding the scientific design of a typical OBE curriculum, “Outcome-Based Teaching-Learning (OBTL)” and “Outcome-Based Assessment (OBA)” for enhancing the employability.

With considerable number of published national and international papers about the successful OBE researches undertaken at NITTTR Bhopal on a small and large scales are regularly cited across the world, both on engineering and non-engineering platforms. With more 5 books published, the latest 2024-OBE Handbook with NEP 2020 focus for Higher Education and 2021-OBE book for Engineering Education are the sought-after unique books. Two other books on wind power technology for the university systems and industry are equally popular text books in various universities. He has been a guest professor to various universities and professional Institutions in Europe, China, Africa and Asia.
