In today’s rapidly evolving technological and economic landscape, engineering graduates must possess not only technical expertise but also an entrepreneurial mindset (EM) to remain competitive and adaptable. To foster this mindset among engineering graduates, nearly 70 engineering institutions across the U.S. have adopted the KEEN 3Cs framework—Curiosity, Connections, and Creating Value. Despite its increasing reach, many institutions continue to face challenges in advocating and scaling EM integration across programs and departments.
This interactive workshop equips engineering faculty of all ranks with a practical, step-by-step framework for advocating, implementing, and sustaining EM initiatives within their own contexts. Drawing on real examples from EM propagation at a large Midwest R1 institution, participants will explore strategies across key phases of propagation: Recruitment, PLC Structure, Dissemination, and Sustainability, while engaging in guided reflection and planning through a structured work plan.
The workshop emphasizes the iterative nature of institutional change, demonstrating how flexibility, stakeholder feedback, and departmental culture shape each stage of EM adoption. Participants will leave with actionable plans and adaptable tools to incorporate EM into their courses, programs, and institutions.
