Storytelling Approaches for Elevating Student Voices in Research and Dissemination

Presented at Educational Research and Methods Division (ERM) Technical Session 20

In this work in progress paper we focus on storytelling as a research approach for learning from and disseminating the stories of students’ experiences and change efforts. This emerging form of narrative research is ideally positioned to allow us to gain research insight while continuing to promote student agency. In this paper we describe storytelling approaches and detail how we enacted it in our work related to a project that focuses on engaging and elevating undergraduates as partners and leaders in change projects.
