Effectiveness of Using Animated Versus Static Infographics

Presented at Engineering Design Graphics Division (EDGD) Technical Session 2

Various types of infographics are used to communicate information in several contexts, including static and animated infographics. This paper sought to understand which was more effective in making the audience reflect on the provided information between animated and static infographics. The results suggest that both types effectively relayed information, but animated ones were more impactful regarding comprehension, retention, engagement, and memorable. Future studies should apply statistical and experimental approaches to validate the results.
