Description
Strengthening collaborations between academia and industry is crucial for bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Establishing internships, cooperative education programs, joint capstone projects, students' teams, research experience for undergraduates, and industry-sponsored projects can provide students with valuable real-world experiences and prepare them for industry life. While the partnerships may vary based on regional needs, cultural contexts, and the stage of development of engineering education in different countries, students must be prepared to work with their global counterparts as the organizations are becoming increasingly globalized with rapid digital transformation and distributed employee base. But how do we do that? This workshop will bring global leaders from industry, academia, and accreditation organizations to discuss in roundtable format on how region-specific university-industry partnerships can prepare students as global citizens and increase their employability in that region and beyond. The outcome of the workshop collected from each breakout groups will be presented during a follow-up webinar organized by IFEES and GEDC and will aim to publish at the next World Engineering Education Forum to be held in October at the Tec de Monterrey, Mexico.
