Promoting Research Career Pathways among Engineering Transfer Students at Two-Year Institutions Using Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURES)

Presented at Engineering and Engineering Technology Transfer and the Two-Year College Student Part 1

A course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE) for enhancing the research literacy of engineering students enrolled at a large two-year Hispanic Serving Institution is described herein. The CURE provides students with a research immersion experience in collaboration with a local corporate partner. Advanced technical content related to the business model of the corporate partner is introduced at the beginning of the semester, followed by the completion of a guided research review experience. Results from a preliminary assessment of student's research literacy is presented, along with ongoing modifications to the CURE model for the Spring 2023 semester.
